Mesothelioma victims with no spouse or dependants |
 |
| Mesothelioma patient’s life expectancy has been diminished by this condition
and they will have a more valuable claim if it is pursued before death. This is an additional award.
However where there is no spouse or dependants this is not the case. |
 |
| The claim before death is for “the lost years”. This sum is based on their
normal life expectancy. However, this head of claim does not survive death. It is, therefore,
imperative that victims’ claims are pursued to a conclusion during their life time. It is important
to pursue claims as soon as diagnosed. |
 |
|
Example case |
| A widower in his 70’s with Mesothelioma was offered £200,000 by his former
employer, the sum included £130,000 of “LOST YEARS” claim. |
 |
| He died just before being able to accept with his son then receiving around
£70,000. He did however at least know that his employers had accepted responsibility which was important
to him. |
